‘It was like a mini Brighton in the Suburbs’
Reinventing a lost and not so forgotten space in leafy Suburbia. A curated archive of printmaking, vintage swimwear, video and oral histories.
The aim of this body of work is to convey a sense of community that Surbiton Lagoon encompassed, referencing the role that The CORNERHouse Arts Centre provides to the surrounding areas.
Photographs and texts are the foundation of the work. Images act as a metaphor to forgotten memories; fragments of time captured in a moment, holding lost tales of an urban outdoor space. Re-fashioning and re-framing those bygone days, developing a sense of playfulness, loss and bringing new life to an overlooked local history.
