New work developed for Kingston Museum Community Space.
The inspiration for this work came from the symposium that I attended on Muybridge last year. I saw these images and became immediately drawn to explore the motion work that led to Dancer 187 image by placing myself as the artists muse. I used video to recreate these images and cut stills to produce the final cyanotype prints that will be displayed.
Who is Muybridge’s muse in the Dancer Plate 187, from 1887? A lover, an acquaintance, a professional model, a stranger he had a dalliance with?
